Tale of the Tape: No. 6 Brockport Golden Eagles vs. Hobart Statesmen

QB Joe Germinerio looks to build on his stellar 2017 season

The Brockport Golden Eagles begin their 2018 campaign on Saturday playing host to the Hobart Statesmen. Brockport began their historic 2017 season with a statement 34-20 victory over the then 14th ranked Statesmen. Joe Germinerio introduced himself to the nation with his tremendous performance, finishing with 360 passing yards, 68 rushing yards and 1 TD. Justin Morrison established himself as a force on the ground as he racked up 169 yards rushing and 2 TDs.

S Jake O’Connell returns one of his 7 INTs for a TD. O’Connell is looking to become a 2-time 1st Team All-American

The defense also sent a message to the rest of Division 3 as they held the powerhouse Hobart offense to only 20 points on 335 yards of offense and only 79 yards on the ground and picking off senior QB Shane Sweeney 3 times. Overall, the defense held Hobart below their season average in every category en route to the victory.

The Hobart Statesmen graduated 18 seniors from last season’s team, while Brockport returns the majority of their team on both sides of the ball from 2017. So how do these teams stack up heading into Saturday’s opener at Bob Boozer Field? Let’s go to the tale of the tape:
