ROCHESTER – The Rochester Red Wings have two more games scheduled for their current home stand, tonight (June 9) and Sunday afternoon.
Saturday, June 9 the Wings continue their three game series with the Durham Bulls, Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., gates open at 5:30. Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams is scheduled to throw out the first pitch. The popular Zooperstars are scheduled to make the first of two appearances in 2018. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Red Wings Pop Socket courtesy of the Hillside Family of Agencies. Fireworks follow the game, presented by ESL Federal Credit Union.
Sunday’s series finale will begin at 1:05 p.m., with gates set to open at noon. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free Red Wings baseball presented by Hurlbut Care Communities. Fans can play catch with dad on the field after the game.
The Red Wings will be wearing their powder blue uniforms from the 1980s. The jerseys will be auctioned off using the Live Source mobile app with proceeds benefitting the Catholic Diocese of Rochester.
All kids 12 and under will have the chance to run the bases with Spikes & Mittsy following each Sunday home game courtesy of the Burger Bar at Wegmans Pittsford.
Sunday’s game is also a Knot Hole Gang Kids Club Day. For just $20 kids will receive three tickets good for any Sunday game during the 2018 season, a members-only cap, membership card and lanyard and opportunities for cool VIP experiences like throwing out the ceremonial first pitch and being a guest PA announcer for an inning presented by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and Messenger Post Media.
ONLINE FAN VOTING UNDER WAY FOR 2018 TRIPLE-A ALL-STAR GAME
Coming off a record-breaking 2017 voting campaign, Triple-A Baseball® has announced the 2018Triple-A All-Star Ballot has launched, providing fans across the country the opportunity to send their favorite players to the Triple-A All-Star Game. The online ballot for the 31st annual Triple-A All-Star Game, to be played in downtown Columbus, Ohio at Huntington Park Wednesday, July 11, will be available until fan voting closes Friday, June 22.
Fan balloting will help determine the starting lineups for both All-Star teams, accounting for one-third of the total vote along with ballots cast by members of the media and each club’s field manager, coaches, and general manager. Fans can cast their ballots at the official websites of Minor League Baseball™ (MiLB.com), the International League (ILBaseball.com), the Pacific Coast League (PCLBaseball.com), and the websites of all 30 Triple-A teams. Ballots are also available through the MiLB First Pitch app on Android, iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch® devices. Once fans have made their selections, they will be able to share links to their ballots through Facebook and Twitter to encourage others to vote.
All fans who participate in the online balloting will be able to vote for players on both the IL and PCL rosters. Fans can select one player for each of the infield positions, plus three outfielders, a designated hitter, catcher, and four pitchers – two starters and two relievers. Write-in votes for players not listed on the ballot will also be accepted. Up-to-date statistics and position-by-position comparisons will be available at the click of a mouse to help fans make their selections.
The Huntington Bank Triple-A All-Star Game presented by Gildan will be broadcast live on MiLB.TV.
All-Star festivities in Columbus begin with the Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby and Skills Competition Monday, July 9, part of the 10th season celebration for Huntington Park that will include hosting the 2018 Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game in September.
