2) Pass Rush
As important as the defense was in ending the playoff drought last season, they were far from perfect. One area in particular where the defense struggled was in generating pressure. Young defensive end Shaq Lawson was largely underwhelming before being sidelined with an ankle injury late in the season. Jerry Hughes, meanwhile, was his usual relentless self but with no one else posing a threat along the defensive line he drew all kinds of attention. That culminated in Buffalo finishing last season in the bottom third of the league in sacks. Fortunately, they spent the offseason revamping their defensive front. Featuring new faces like DT Star Lotulelei and DE Trent Murphy the pressure should be turned up a notch, which could go a long way in getting the Bills back to the playoffs.
